I’m really excited by the theme and feel of this set, as discussed in my previous article (link here), but what I thought I’d look at today are the first two spoilers from Monsters of Norso.

They were a little hidden, but here they are from the Five Realms Website:

The first spoiler is Astar, The Minotaur, who appears to be both a creature and a god. He/it carries a resolve of ±2, and is a Δ5 achrom legendary with a curious tentacle arm, an axe, and the ability:
“VENGEANCE: Drain 2 Shards from all cards on all other Canvases“.
That ability sounds pretty scary, though as we don’t know what VENGEANCE does or how to trigger it, this is a little tricky to assess. On the basis this is a legendary, I’d assume this isn’t too hard to trigger, making The Minotaur a veritable killing machine.

The second spoiler is Queen Flora, Queen of the Diamant Trolls. Apparently she ensures traditions are upheld, and in this case, those traditions appear to include trading. At Δ6 with only 2 prevent she is very pricey, but her ability could be very valuable:
“GUARD. Once during your turn, when you TRADE a card you may immediately DIG it“.
OK, so we don’t know exactly what GUARD means yet either, though we do know that POISONOUS ignores it (thanks to the 2.2 rules document), so that would suggest it provides some sort of protection in combat. However, what we do know is that being able to repeatedly trade the same card every turn is going to be a very nice bonus indeed. Honestly, I don’t think she’d necessarily be worth actually paying for in a pure Traders deck, but she will certainly be a nice gain engine in the right chroma deck.
