Achroma Showcase

Last Thursday, Realm Runner Studios hosted an Achroma Showcase in London, at the Lush headquarters in Soho. It was streamed live, but the recording has not, as far as I can tell, been made public. Hopefully it will appear on their new YouTube channel soon.

I was fortunate enough to be able to make it, and thought I’d go over all the news.

The Road Map

Below is an image from the Showcase showing their Roadmap for the next year:

Season 1: Achromatic Genesis

As you can see, we’re currently in the Winter 2025 Season, known as Achromatic Genesis, in which we can expect to see Monsters of Norso hit the shelves (it should be in stock from tomorrow). We also have a stunning new Seasonal Promo Card, this time a Realmless Action, to match the season.

The ability to DIG a card for 3 shards is decent, and nice that all Realms have access to this effect. It also makes Revival from Salum essentially redundant. Additionally, this is the first Action card ever to include the word “ACTION”.

The plan is to give this out at events, and as well as being a nice card for decks and your collection, it can be used to unlock seasonal benefits using the Achroma app, once the app update arrives.

Another aspect of Seasonal Play, launching this season, is an Organised Play System, for players to partake in weekly or seasonal games at their local game store:

A lack of support for localised Organised Play has been something missing from Achroma for a while, and it’s great to see this being addressed. I’m looking forward to trying to get Achroma events running in my local store, and those OP promos are lovely. Finally we have full art cards!

Related to this will be support in the app to run a tournament. Instead of a regular game join code, there’ll be a tournament join code, facilitating matchups, and managing strength of schedule calculations for Swiss events. A great addition to the app.

Another aspect of LGS based play is support for a localised Achrometer, where a game store or club’s personal chroma or achrom victories can be tracked. There are even Achroma posters that shops can get which can advertise their allegiance.

Season II: HAIM Initiative

Starting in Spring 2026, we will be entering the HAIM Initiative Season. We don’t know much about HAIM (except they like Shard Caches), but we do know that they have posted operatives to different Realms. For what purpose, we don’t know.

In the Showcase, it was revealed that this season will involve numerous card drops, as well as possibly Chapter 2 boosters.

Season II will also include a new 2-player starter set (like Dexter’s Dragon Riders) known as Sprat’s Fairy Painters, featuring a young Sprat and Spiral, plus other old favourites from Spirata Realm.

Dexter’s Dragon Riders is a fun and beginner friendly set, and added a lot of valuable cards to the card pool for Draco Planum. I look forward to the same happening for Spirata Planum.

Season III and Beyond

The Voyage of the Veil Chaser is set for Summer 2026. What this is exactly, we do not know, though we do know that the Veil Chaser is the ship from Curdle Cove. Jack also used the term “pirates” during the showcase. Watch this space.

Moving into Season IV in Autumn 2026 we are expecting the release of Chapter 3, which I would anticipate starting with a new Salum Planum release, though if the Voyage of the Veil Chaser adds more Salum cards to the mix, they may change the order of the realms around.

Overall, it was great to see so much enthusiasm and ambition from Realm Runner Studios after quite a long hiatus. I can’t wait for the Monsters of Norso (this week!) and I really hope the app is fully updated and fixed really soon so I can start playing on the app again and start pushing the Achrometer around again.

Thank you to the team for a lovely evening. I can’t wait to see what comes next.
